An Injection Pump pumps fuel into diesel engine cylinders, traditionally driven indirectly from the crankshaft by gears, chains, or a toothed belt, rotating at half crankshaft speed in a conventional four-stroke diesel engine. Its timing injects fuel slightly before the cylinder's compression stroke top dead center, reaching high pressures up to 620 bar (8992 psi).
